The recall, the third announced by Ford this week, affects 2017 model year F-250 pickups equipped with 6.2-liter gasoline engines that were built at its truck plant in Louisville, Kentucky.
Ford says drivers should use the parking brake to make sure that affected vehicles don’t move after being parked.
Ford said Wednesday it was recalling 211,000 vehicles in North America to replace potentially defective side door latches that can cause doors to fly open unexpectedly.
Another recall involves 230,000 vehicles that present a fire risk in the engine compartment. Ford said it was aware of at least 29 reports of fire related to that issue.
To date, Ford said it was unaware of any injuries or accidents associated with the latest recall.
Ford dealers will replace the defective part for free, but the company doesn’t yet have the replacement parts in. It will notify owners when the parts are available.
